The client recently acquired an existing commercial building located in Hudson, the Chateau du Lac. The ground floor and second floor are currently connected by an internal staircase, part of a commercial complex, formerly a gift shop and a small café with food preparation services.
The project consists of the exterior renovation of the three-story building, as well as interior renovations. The main elements of the project identified from the outset are as follows:
1. Porch surrounding the second floor.
2. Integrate the first floor porch with the lower level of the lot.
3. The door at the front of the Castle leading to the Theater must disappear to open up the space inside the Castle.
4. Storage space on the second floor for multi-purpose event space (tables, chairs, cocktail tables, etc.).
The preliminary design of the project is based on a series of sketches by Robin Dodds which incorporate the client's initial intentions.
